Last day!

Our final day of touring various sites and sharing our presentations could not have been more exciting! Much to our excitement, we began the day with hiking up the hills of Delphi. Although we have had many aerial views, the scenic valleys and mountains leave one speechless. Tori enlightened us on the famously debated Oracle of Delphi and the continued debates on the priestess's legitimacy. Delphi's sites included the remnants of several city-states' treasuries (Julia's final presentation), a temple of Apollo, an Athenian stoa, a theater, and a stadium. Some of the girls even ventured into a closed off, underground passage that priests had once utilized! We wrapped up all that Delphi has to offer with an impressive museum.

After lunch and a short bus ride (compared to our others!), we arrived at the beautiful Monastery of Hosios Loukas. Ashley M. gave the concluding presentation on the history of Saint Loukas and the renowned Byzantine monastery. Everyone was astounded by the mosaics which had stayed intact in spite of multiple earthquakes! We were even surprised to see the body of Saint Loukas up close and personal!

Upon returning to Athens, we sadly said goodbye to our beloved driver, George, and settled back into the first hotel of our amazing expedition. We hurriedly showered for our last dinner, where we (most especially Vania!) enjoyed live, traditional Greek music. Everyone ended the day with a leisurely walk towards our hotel and cups of delicious Greek frozen yogurt. Even though the days were long and hard, we all had an incredible time learning about Ancient Greek Art history and exploring Greece! Can't wait to come back to Greece (maybe with these Holton ladies)!
